Chuck Lorre is no stranger to public feuds, and he’s now stirred up a fresh fight with “The Bachelor.”
The TV show runner, who infamously butted heads with his former “Two and a Half Men” star Charlie Sheen, triggered the latest clash with the vanity card he produced for the end credits on “The Big Bang Theory” this week.
Lorre’s missive was mostly political (slamming Mitt Romney and certain policies), but also included the line, “What does it say about us when we think the institution of marriage is threatened by gay people who love each other, but not by idiotic game shows like ‘The Bachelor’?”
Ouch.
Needless to say, the people behind “The Bachelor” were not pleased.
On Friday, the show’s host, Chris Harrison, tweeted a link to Lorre’s diss and commented, “Chuck love it when people expose their own ignorance!”
He then retweeted “Bachelor” producer Elan Gale, who joked of Lorre, “Someone has been freebasing crushed up copies of Dharma & Greg DVDs.”
“Two and a Half Men. Zero salient points,” sniped Gale in another message.
Meanwhile, ABC executive Robert Mills tweeted, “Ironic that Chuck Lorre decides to bash #Bachelor and one of his stars [Kaley Cuoco] is a card carrying member of #Bachelornation.”
Mills added, “Chuck Lorre’s getting #TwoAndAHalfMenNation to retaliate against #BachelorNation Step 1: teach their geriatric audience to turn on a computer.”
Lorre has not responded, but another vanity card could be coming soon.
